Something Rachel, Meriel and I discussed at Fashion Mavericks made me realise how lucky I am to live in an area so full of tiny little shops, and one-off or small chain boutiques, as well as cafés and restaurants that you won't find anywhere else in the country. As well as the area where I live, I've also come across boutiques and shops I adore while I've been on holiday, or visiting family, and, well, it seems such a shame to let all of that local love go to waste, and so I'm going to try to dedicate Saturday posts, as often as possible, to a new feature, Local Focus.
This week, though, my focus isn't going to be North Yorkshire, where I live, but Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, where there's a teeny tiny little cake shop I fell in love with many moons ago, and wrote a magazine article about...

I know that it seems a bit wrong to start my local feature somewhere, well, not local, but the lovely ladies at this shop have been so kind to me, and their cakes are just so adorable that I thought... "why not?".
So, meet Fancy Nancy, cake designers supreme, who state that some one of their inspirations is Vivienne Westwood, and whose shop smells just so wonderful when you happen to be a-wandering by...
Could you resist these beautiful creations?

Are they not the most fashionable fancies you've ever seen? To be honest, these are enough to make me want to get married today!
All wedding cakes are one-offs, made to order, and upon consultation, although Fancy Nancy do have an adorable coffee shop, selling buns and other cake-based delights for several hundred pounds less than you're likely to pay for one of the stunning, and delicious looking, creations above. They're also incredinly environmentally friendly, which is always something to make me smile - especially from such a small company.
Oh, and if you happen to be passing Harvey Nichols in London (!!), they're stocked there, too, to save you the half-hour train journey out of the capital.

Oh, and I did feature them a forever ago in Confessions of a Fashion Editor's previous incarnation. See that post HERE.
I'm really excited about this feature, now - and especially because I know what I'm writing about next weekend. Thank you very much to the little shop in York who have invited Sarah and I to their first birthday party on Thursday! We'll be there, with cake (homemade, not Fancy Nancy, sadly!), camera and business cards, to celebrate with you!

'Are they not the most fashionable fancies you've ever seen?'
It's pretty close, but only because I've occaisionally gone out of my way in an area to go look at the cakes. They're always just so pretty.
'To be honest, these are enough to make me want to get married today!'
Oh no you don't! As your *foreced* maid-of-honour, I'm telling you now that there is no way I can get a wedding done in time. Esp if we're still off to see Valentine's Day (<3 13)
But yes, looking at Wedding cakes, the best! And gets you feeling all feminine
