Anya Wilkinson at Fashion Mavericks, reported by Meriel Day of Hurricane Lemonade
I was particularly excited about seeing this collection as we had the fortune of meeting the designer, Anya Wilkinson, the day before to talk about what inspired her to design these pieces. She said that she wanted her clothes to be ‘girly’ and most importantly the type of clothes her friends could enjoy.
Her designs were GORGEOUS. Fitted dresses, tailored blazers and beautifully crafted skirts gave the collection an elegant, feminine look. She used a wide range of materials, including chiffon, silk, leather and heavy coating to give piece a sense of individuality, and to add interest to classic designs.

One of the pieces that really stood out was this stunning rainbow skirt. The colours and fabrics used made the piece wearable, yet still edgy and ‘different’.

The velvet green blazer with the large exaggerated collar showed the more formal side of the collection.

The whole show ended with this pink and black silk dress with ruffle flower detailing. The idea of using the fabric to create a flower reoccurred several times during the show, and this dress was a beautifully made example. This defiantly had to be my FAVOURITE pieces. I wish we had managed to get a runway shot!
